What does the vestibular system do?

The vestibular system in the inner ear detects head movements. It helps us maintain our balance and stable gaze when our head is moving.

What is a vestibular condition?

If there is dysfunction of the vestibular system, we may experience symptoms including imbalance, or vertigo. Vertigo is a false sensation of movement that can occur due to a vestibular sensory imbalance, and is often described as a spinning sensation. Other common symptoms include nausea, fatigue and a loss of balance or difficulty walking.
