Two of our team, Nathanial Harnett (Associate Physiotherapist, Sports Physiotherapy & Work Rehabilitation, Penrith) and Ryan Fraser (Physiotherapy Student and Assistant) were appointed to work with the NSW team at the 19/U National Netball Championships held in April in Melbourne. It was a great initiation to representative sports coverage for Nathanial and Ryan, and they are both looking forward to further involvement in the years to come.
Nathanial’s report:
“Following my recent involvement with the Penrith District Netball Association’s state teams I was afforded the opportunity to work with the NSW 19/U team for the 2014 National Netball Championships. This week-long tournament is used to identify Australia’s top up and coming netballers, to help determine institute scholarship holders, and to help select the 19/U Australian team.”
“Our team included many players new to the representative level. Results didn’t go our way at the beginning of the week, particularly after we lost a key shooter to injury. However I was really impressed with how our athletes overcame this adversity. We really came together towards the end of the week, with some great performances seeing the team finish in 5th place.”
